Miami for the weekend

Tiffany Geiger

You guys, I apologize now - these aren't the best pictures I've ever taken. We were trying to strike a balance this trip between omg content and disconnecting and this is what we got. Anyway, right after our wedding, (I know yesterday I promised that was the last wedding post, don't worry it was..) Cory and I went to Miami for a few days on a mini-moon. I went to college in Miami at UM but it'd been 5 years since I'd been back and I'm obsessed all over again. TOP SECRET: We are actually talking about moving down to Miami in the next year or so. It's the perfect combination of sunshine and palm trees + that city life we've come to love here in NYC.

Obsessed with this set for a beach weekend. Yes, I'm wearing the top backwards (which I didn't know at first, let's be real) but I prefer it this way. The tie in the front is just too sexy for me but you do you!

Cory surprised me and planned the perfect weekend in Miami at the Palms Resort & Spa in Miami Beach. We spent lots of time relaxing - our days at the beach soaking up the sun and ordering guacamole and passion fruit margaritas to our beach chairs. The grounds at the Palms are beautiful (see pictures above), the pool area is so lush and then they have beach chairs you can reserve on the beach complete with servers for snacks and drinks. After our days at the beach, we ran around town hitting the best happy hour spots.

Just trying to take a cute picture with the resident parrot until he screamed at me!

One night we did Monty's Raw Bar, a casual waterfront bar serving discounted drinks, peel and eat shrimp and Florida stone crab claws (my favorite!). After a margarita and some stone crab we headed to Smith & Wollensky to watch the sunset at their outdoor bar. Their outdoor bar is right on the inlet and the best place to catch the sunset. One dirty martini later and back to the hotel to change for dinner! We went to Sugarcane Raw Bar, a tapas style restaurant with a focus on seafood. A friend recommended it and the food was incredible! Lucky for us they have a location in Brooklyn that we keep talking about going to but haven't made it yet. We had octopus, goat cheese croquettes, scallops, foie gras fried rice (i know - order it!), and a few other items. It's in a cute downtown area so we walked around before heading back to the hotel for bed. We talked about going out dancing but I'd already gotten drunk at happy hour so to sleep we went!

Another beach day and before heading out we stopped at the Essensia at the Palms Hotel for a quick snack before hitting the road. We each ordered a signature cocktail and split their ceviche special (picture above). You guys this ceviche was the best Cory and I have ever had! It's a must try next time you're in Miami.

We'd planned to head out afterwards but were having so much fun, we walked down the block to Cecconi's at the Soho House for their happy hour. There we each had a glass of wine and ordered the truffle and fontina croquettes and the bruschetta for something light. The truffle and fontina croquettes are life changing, they're one of the best things I've ever eaten. Seriously, try them and if you go during their happy hour they're only $7.

And now we're obsessed with Miami with talks of moving as soon as we tire of these NYC winters.
